BLUE COLLAR HOCKEY TOURNAMENTS

A new tournament company will operate in the Midwest for the 2006-2007 season.  Blue Collar Hockey Tournaments and can be found on the web at www.bluecollarhockey.net.

They feature tournaments in Kalamazoo, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Chicago.  All tournaments will be a 4 game guarantee, all divisions (except mini-mites) will play 3 -12 minute stop time periods.  These events will also feature a hospitality reception on Saturday evening for participating teams and their families where you can get together with other hockey families, play cards, enjoy the music, or just hang out with your kids.

Affton will host the Jacki Haas Memorial Mite Festival from Nov. 23-25 for all Mite level teams, (AA, A1, A2, B1 House Gold, Silver and Bronze). Entry fee is $475 and applications are due by October 24, 2007.

The format will be different than any other tournament. Depending on the number of entries, you will play as many as 10 mini games (one ten minute period) which will be used to set the seeding for two knockout rounds. It does not matter what your classification as long as you are a registered Mite level team. This will give everyone a chance to play teams that they may not have a chance to play and levels the playing field. This year's tournament will be honoring Jacki Haas, a long time friend of Affton AA that passed recently. The winning teams of both brackets will be refunded their entry fee. Teams traveling further than 10 hours driving time will receive a discount. Tournaments are supposed to be fun. This format should allow exactly that, FUN.
