How much playing time will my child get?

Everyone at KYHA plays in every game. Our Bylaws state, “...KYHA shall foster good, clean, sportsmanlike conduct and fair play in individual, as well as team competition, and should endeavor to provide a fair share of ice time for all players in the program.” Youth hockey games have three periods of 12 minutes each. At the Mini-Mite level, the three lines alternate, each playing two-minute shifts. Older skaters "change on the fly" just like the pros. House teams will have equal ice time for all team members, as is reasonably possible. League team objectives are to skate all players equally. Exceptions are the last 5 minutes of a game when the score is within 3 goals, or when a coach may use a set power play and/or penalty killing unit.
